I remember a friend saying that her first estrangement from her everyday familiarity in her home town of Amman was when she entered the University of Amman…I think Jeddah is a bigger city than my US city, more restaurants, shopping centers, sea side sky scrapers under construction and a higher unemployments rates…I found a young lady selling make-ups behind a booth at Hera’a mall, Saudi ladies working for the British embassy office in security and administration, Saudi ladies working in tickets in kids amusement centers, I also found a lovely video reminded me of “The Makkiyah”, a lovely organization by the sea created by the Meccan Architect “Sami Anqawi”, I have finished reading “The Abaya”, a promising Saudi novel that follows the new age in writing created by “Banat Al-Riyadh”…I’m now discovering the beauty of Abdu Khal, to immerse myself more in the local Hijaz history & culture, a writer of a notable sense & sensibility, it’s a wonder he’s an elementary school teacher and still practicing his career, he said he learns a lot from the children, maybe this what inspires him in writing…I have a busy agenda in this holiday but I don’t think I’ll follow much of it, it’s a miracle that I finished one novel and still trying to finish more. There’s a wealth of things to catch up with here and time just pass so fast to catch up with all of them…
